Pediatric Practice Services

Dr. Leach and his team are pleased to offer dental services focused on infants, children, teens, and individuals with special needs. Prevention and education are important in our practice. Dr. Leach and his staff are always available to answer questions about your child’s dental needs and the services we can provide for your child’s ideal treatment. We offer a wide range of services including:

Diagnostic Services

Comprehensive Examination: Comprehensive examination is a process in which Dr. Leach gathers information about your child’s dentition, growth and development, and oral habits to provide a thorough diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan. This examination may include radiographs.

Growth and Development Examination: This examination is included with every Oral Health Check Up. Dr. Leach will evaluate and monitor your child’s growth and development at each preventive appointment. This is critical for proper function as well as aesthetics.

Caries Examination: During comprehensive and periodic examinations, Dr. Leach locates areas of decay on chewing surfaces and between the teeth in addition to cavity formation. Dr. Leach uses both a clinical exam and x-ray (radiographic) findings to determine optimum treatment for your child’s oral needs.

Periodontal Examination: Dr. Leach will examine your child’s gum tissue to ensure that if gum disease is detected it is found within its early stages; if Dr Leach has any areas of concern he will address those with you and provide a treatment plan. Our hygiene department provides preventative care for your child and home care instructions for parents and patients. This will enable your child to maintain proper brushing and flossing habits and a healthy mouth for a lifetime.

Preventive Services

Prophylaxis (dental cleaning): These are some of the most important appointments because it allows Dr. Leach and his hygienists to monitor your child’s oral health. The hygienist will clean and polish the teeth, apply fluoride, and apply sealant if it is required. This helps to promote healthy gums and teeth by removing the plaque that causes decay and gum infection in addition to ensuring that your child is receiving ample amounts of fluoride to keep their tooth enamel strong.

Fluoride Treatments: Fluoride applications help to strengthen the enamel on your child’s teeth, making it more difficult for cavities to begin. Children should be receiving fluoride treatments every six months.

Sealants: Sealants protect the chewing surfaces of the back teeth and should be applied as a child’s permanent teeth erupt. We may recommend sealants for the child’s primary teeth as well. The sealants that we have placed have been highly successful in preventing decay. Click here to read more.

Mouth Guards: Our office offers a variety of mouth protection from custom-made mouth guards to those with orthodontic appliances. We can direct you to the type of mouth guard that is best suited for your child based on your child’s age and the type of sports in which he or she participates.

Interceptive Orthodontics: Dr. Leach is delighted to offer crossbite correction, habit appliances and serial extractions for children who require early intervention for space or bite issues.
