Diagnostic and Preventative Services offered

Comprehensive Examination: Comprehensive examination is a process in which Dr. Leach gathers information about your child’s dentition, growth and development, and oral habits to provide a thorough diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan. This examination may include radiographs.

Growth and Development Examination: This examination is included with every Oral Health Check Up. Dr. Leach will evaluate and monitor your child’s growth and development at each preventive appointment. This is critical for proper function as well as aesthetics.

Caries Examination: During comprehensive and periodic examinations, Dr. Leach locates areas of decay on chewing surfaces and between the teeth that lead to cavity formation. Dr. Leach uses both a clinical exam and x-ray (radiographic) findings to determine optimum treatment for your child’s oral needs.

Periodontal Examination: Dr. Leach will examine your child’s gum tissue to ensure that if gum disease is detected, it is found within its early stages; if Dr Leach has any areas of concern he will address those with you and provide a treatment plan. Our hygiene department provides preventative care for your child and home care instructions for parents and patients. This will enable your child to maintain proper brushing and flossing habits and a healthy mouth for a lifetime.

Prophylaxis (dental cleaning): These are some of the most important appointments because it allows Dr. Leach and his hygienists to monitor your child’s oral health. The hygienist will clean and polish the teeth, apply fluoride, and apply sealant if it is required. This helps to promote healthy gums and teeth by removing the plaque that causes decay and gum infection in addition to ensuring that your child is receiving ample amounts of fluoride to keep their tooth enamel strong.

Fluoride Treatments: Fluoride applications help to strengthen the enamel on your child’s teeth making it more difficult for cavities to begin. Children should be receiving fluoride treatments every six months.

Sealants: Sealants protect the chewing surfaces of the back teeth and should be applied as a child’s permanent teeth erupt. We may recommend sealants for the child’s primary teeth as well. The sealants that we place are highly successful in preventing decay. Click here to read more.

Mouth Guards: Our office offers a variety of mouth protection from custom-made mouth guards to those with orthodontic appliances. We can direct you to the type of mouth guard that is best suited for your child based on your child’s age and the type of sports in which he or she participates.

Interceptive Orthodontics: Dr. Leach is delighted to offer crossbite correction, habit appliances and serial extractions for children who require early intervention for space or bite issues.

Just walking into the office, you immediately see how kid-friendly/family-friendly it is. The huge fish tank was a big hit with my son, as well having fun pictures painted on the walls. The staff was very friendly and nice. And we really enjoyed our time with Dr. Leach! We are so happy to have found a wonderful dentist for our son!” – Alisa Hulling via Google

“There are not enough words to express the warmth, honesty, and cheerfulness this office exudes. As a mom I have complete peace knowing the kids are in such good hands and getting the best dental care in the area. It is truly unmatched.” – Michelle Steinfeld via Google

“We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Leach and the entire practice. We feel so fortunate to have found him. We were told by several pediatric dentists that our then four-year-old would need to be put under general anesthesia in order to perform restorative work due to him being sensitive. It wasn’t even a consideration with Dr. Leach. He saved us from so much stress and anxiety. Thank you so much! P.S – our sons love Honey, the therapy dog! 😊” – Kimberly Hobbs via Google

We saw Dr. Leach today for a 2nd opinion regarding the recommendation from another children’s dentistry office to have my 5-yr old daughter’s tooth pulled and a spacer put in. He seemed warm and caring and very knowledgeable. He also is conservative in his approach and does not seem to recommend extreme measures unless necessary. We are switching dentists and will be seeing Dr. Leach from now on!” – Denise Lynch via Facebook

“Amazing! I took my 3 year old for her first dentist appointment, and it was a dream. The whole office is equipped for every age to enjoy. Coffee, tea, and water for parents, video games, toys and movies for kids. The staff was incredible! Very friendly and my little went back by herself and had no issues. Loved Dr. Leach – very friendly, great with kids and super helpful answering questions. Thankful we are starting out at such a great place.” – Kayla McLaughlin via Facebook

“Coming to this dental practice was the most important decision we made for our children’s healthcare. If you want the most caring, capable dentist and staff, calm and conservative treatment for a child you love, so many extra touches to put children at ease including being comforted by the sweetest therapy dog ever, this is the only place to be. Add a comfortable waiting area with coffee and water for parents, a cheerful and helpful front office, and it’s a pleasure to take children to their appointments.” – Rebecca J. via Rate-a-Biz

“My 4 year old son needed a tooth pulled due to an accident. He was very scared going, but Dr. Leach and staff calmed him down and they were able to pull the tooth and when my son came out to meet me he had a smile on his face. I was given very specific instructions to know how to care for the extraction wound, and Dr. Leach even followed up later that day to see how my son was doing. Excellent Dr. and staff!” – Olivia H. via Rate-a-Biz
